Music at Belmont Grosvenor

Extra-curricular musical activities include Senior and Junior Choirs, string, recorder and wind groups, and, when they come together, an Orchestra, which are all well attended and successful.  The school also offers a Rock Group, primarily for children who have guitar and drum lessons, but also for those just wanting to attend and join in making music.

There are many opportunities to perform to a wide variety of audiences from our weekly performing arts assemblies in school to our community, charity, and festival events throughout the year.

Through all these opportunities our ultimate aim is to foster a love of music that will stay with the children for life.

Senior Choir

Senior Choir is made up of our older Prep school children and is open to anyone who enjoys singing and performing.

The Choir is regularly asked to sing at community events in the local area. They have also gained notable success in the Harrogate Music Festival and perform at Harvest and Easter assemblies, as well as the Christmas Carol Service in the village church.

Junior Choir

Junior Choir involves children from Years 2 and 3 and is for those who like to have fun singing, and build their confidence as performers. In addition to regularly performing in school during assemblies as well as the Christmas Fair, our Junior Choir revel in learning songs through games and other practical activities.

Rock Group

The best thing about playing an instrument is when you get together with friends to play the music you love.

School of Rock aims to bring all different instrumentalists and singers together to form a band.

As well as learning to play their favourite songs, our children learn how to perform as part of an ensemble – and have lots of fun!

All of our Year 3 children learn the recorder and perform for their parents in assembly. They learn technique and experience ensemble playing in a fun and friendly environment.

Instrumental groups

Open to all our budding instrumentalists whatever their ability, our Instrumental Groups perform regularly and develop ensemble and listening skills.
